Blocked Saniflo’s & Saniflo Box Problems
Saniflo Pipe Clearance & Saniflo Servicing.
Pump and Macerator faults & breakdowns are caused by several issues.
Pump box failure is generally caused by a lack of maintenance.
This causes the pump boxes and pipework to eventually fail.
Scale builds up within the pump boxes, this can prevent the diaphragm, valves and float switches from working, which can cause the box to run continuously or just cut out.
Scale can also buildup on the side walls of the pipework.
Pipe sizes range from 22mm to 32mm
Anything other than the three P’s “pee, poo & paper” should not enter the system.
Wipes shouldn’t be used in any toilet system,
If a wipe enters a macerator system, they can be tricky to retrieve.
Foreign items entering the system can cause the blade to jam or to send chopped particles into the pipe system, these particles can get caught on scale, bends & rough joins etc.
Saniflo pipework should be installed with 45-degree bends and as little as possible.
22mm 90-degree bends shouldn’t be used as they can cause a stoppage point.
Clearing scale from the side walls of 22mm & 32mm pipework can be very time consuming and not always achievable depending on the number, type of bends used, distance and location of pipework.
Systems are generally installed in areas where conventional waste plumbing can’t be used, basements, loft spaces etc. The pipework can be found – under floorboards, in walls, voids & loft spaces
Quite often it is cost effective to reroute or replace the pipework with new, but sometimes this is not achievable.
Descaling fluid should be used regularly both for the pump box and pipework.
The pipework should be isolated and filled with the fluid to allow to cleaning fluid to break down the scale, again quite often this is not achievable.
It is common to find a system that has been installed for years that “has been working fine until now”, scale can take years to build up, gradually reducing the circumference of the inside wall of the pipework and inevitably cause a blockage or a pump failure.
